Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said in a Fox News interview last night that the Trump administration is considering a ban on all apps out China which includes the popular app Tik Tok.
Tik Tok has been downloaded by over 2 billion users across Apple and Android users. The US is concerned that China is taking user information from Tik Tok. Tik Tok has previously stated that US user data is stored in the US, with backup date in Singapore.
Tik Tok is owned by ByteDance, a company that is based out of China.
Tik Tok’s new CEO Kevin Mayer is an American and was the former Chairman of Walt Disney Direct-to-Consumer & International.
