Lexy is an American Actress

Where are you from and how did you get your start in the acting world?

I am from Woodland Hills, CA and I started acting at 5 years old after watching my older sister Ava on TV. She was on “Girl Meets World” and it looked so fun, so I decided I wanted to do it too.

What is the average audition process like?

It’s changed a lot since Covid. In the past, you would get the audition from your team a couple of days before it was due. I would learn it and we would drive to meet with the casting director and do the audition in the room. Then, if you got a callback, you went back in and met with the producers and director and every callback would be a little different ranging from a few minutes rehearsing your lines to complete improv and working on different parts of a character. Then sometimes it would go to another step where you would test with the network or do a chemistry read. Now, everything is done on tape and callbacks are on zoom. I like the old way better. It’s much more personal.

Tell us about your role on “Shooter”.

I played Mary Swagger, the daughter of Bob Lee Swagger played by Ryan Phillipe and Julie Swagger played by Shantel VanSanten. I was lucky enough to be on that show for 3 years and it was such an adventure because we worked on location a lot and there were a lot of intense scenes. For instance, in the first season, I was kidnapped by the Russians, and we had to run and get shot at, but I love that stuff…

What was an average day on set like when working on “Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D”.

Call time was always 7:30 am and we filmed on set in Culver City. They were all very serious and on schedule, and I felt like it was by far the most nervous I was on any set, but the cast was super friendly and fun, especially Ming-Na Wen. I love her so much and I got to sing “The Little Mermaid” with her at the wrap party. That was definitely an epic moment for me.

You won 3 Best Actress Awards for your role on “Freaks”, what was that like?

“Freaks” was one of the best experiences I have ever had on any acting job. It was very challenging as I was 7 years old and I was in almost every scene and I remember that some of the scenes were so emotional and intense. But Adam Stein and Zack Lepovsky made it a very safe place for me to be able to go to dark places without being afraid. I really loved it and I hope to work with them again some day.

What’s your favorite role you’ve played?

I would definitely say Chloe in “Freaks”.

You’re also a talented singer, do you ever see yourself performing in musical productions?

I actually performed in 6 musical theatre plays when I was younger but haven’t done that in a while. But if the opportunity presented itself, I would love it.

Who are your biggest role models?

Meryl Streep, Lilly Reinhardt and Zendaya.

Any tips for aspiring actors and actresses?

If you want to be an actor, you really have to pay your dues and be ready for the ups and downs of the business. Nothing is better than booking a role you connect with, but the in between times can be challenging and there’s a lot of rejection. So my biggest tip is always work on your skills and learn anything that can make you stand out in an audition. It’s a very competitive business, so get ready to be your best version of yourself.

What’s one thing you wish more fans knew about you?

I have 3 older sisters and 2 girl dogs, so my dad has 7 girls around him. But it’s always a great environment and I wouldn’t change a thing.
