How did you get your start in acting?
I started acting when I was 5 years old with my performing arts studio.
What was the casting process like for Ace & The Christmas Miracle (Coming Fall 2021)?
The casting process was a little different with Ace. The film was shooting near where I live and I had a few friends in the film. One of the parents of those friends called my mom and let her know they needed my part. I spoke with some people over the phone and was cast for the part. I met the rest of the cast and production team when I came to set to work.
What was a typical day on set like?
For Ace, it was fun! Typically a day on any set is fun. We check in, usually eat some breakfast and then get into wardrobe, hair and makeup. Once everything is ready, I go on set with my set teacher and we shoot the scene. Usually there are several different takes of the same scene with different angles and stuff so the director can get what he/she needs.
How did you prepare for the role?
I prepare for a role by memorizing my lines and then reading the character’s traits so that I can then start to go over my lines how I believe the character would respond. I write down a lot of notes and become very aware of what is happening in each scene, even ones I am not in, so I can be sure my character reacts correctly in my scenes.
Tell us more about your music. What inspired you to start singing and releasing music?
My music is mostly about family, friends and what it’s like to be someone my age in the world today. I like my music to have a positive message. I love to sing and have wanted to be a professional performer since I was 6 years old. Releasing music is the next step in my journey.
What’s your new song about?
My new song, Good Life, is a celebration of the first day of summer with one’s friends and family. It’s a summer anthem song about having fun and enjoying life. After being quarantined for almost a year, a lot of us are really looking forward to hanging out with friends and enjoying being together outside in the summer sun.
Any advice you’d give to another Actor/Singer your age?
My best advice is to not give up. Also, you have to practice. One may be naturally talented, but if one does not put the work in, that talent is not going to be at its full potential. Work hard, be prepared, don’t be late and treat everyone with respect.
