Music Mondays: Hello Sister

How did you get started doing music?

When the three of us were growing up, our dad was a big influence because he was always playing music around the house. Grace started taking piano lessons and singing when she was around 6 years old. Later after, Gabriella started taking Guitar lessons and Scarlett was always banging on things, so we knew drums were perfect for her. One of our teachers was retiring from our elementary school and someone asked if we would be willing to perform something for her. That was one of the 1st times we played together and we knew this is what we wanted to do! After we recorded our 1st mini album, and I was in 5th grade, we went to celebrate at a sushi restaurant! We were enjoying our food and coming up with band names because at the time we were just called the Mason sisters! Out of nowhere our dad said, what about “Hello Sister”? We thought it was absolutely perfect because we were 3 sisters saying Hello to the world. Shortly after,  we started to play gigs, live shows, and started our own Instagram account!

What was it like recording your first ever song “Summer Time”?

It was an amazing experience for us and it was great to see what was behind the songs and how songs come to be.

What inspired you to make your latest hit single

Our dad who is also a songwriter and was was in a band 20 years ago wrote that song, but didn’t get a chance to release it. We thought this would be a perfect time to release a song about spreading love and make it our own!!

How did you come up with the idea for the music video?

We actually saw the place that we were going to shoot a music video weeks before we filmed it weeks after. So I think the props and the backgrounds of the space inspired us to think of the vintage TVs and the animated bubbles.  And because this song was about spreading love we wanted to video to be fun and happy.

Any advice you’d give to somebody who wants to be a singer?

To work hard and do what you love!! Be patient because it takes time to see growth and success.
